This parking brake cable shortener is a speedy way to deal with a parking brake cable that can no longer be brought into proper adjustment. As cables stretch over time, they can become long enough that the parking brake pedal or lever cannot travel far enough to set the brake. A stretched cable downstream of the equalizer can also result in parking brakes that won't apply evenly. The Dorman HELP! brake cable shortener installs in just seconds and removes a variable amount of excess slack from an emergency brake cable that has stretched. Rather than contend with the time-consuming installation of complete parking brake cables, this shortener can be installed without a lift or special tools to help restore positive pedal or lever engagement and keep your e-brake operating safely.
